Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 4 cups water or milk (or a combination of both)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Toppings: fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, or yogurt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Instant Pot: Plug in your Instant Pot and set it to the ‘Sauté’ function. Add the steel cut oats and toast for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add Liquid: Pour in the water or milk, and add the salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Cook the Oatmeal: Close the lid, set the valve to ‘Sealing’, and select ‘Manual’ or ‘Pressure Cook’ for 10 minutes.
  4. Natural Release: Once the cooking time is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully switch the valve to ‘Venting’ to release any remaining pressure.
  5. Finish and Serve: Open the lid, stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract if using. Portion the oatmeal into bowls and add your favorite toppings.
