This tiramisu offers a delightful balance of coffee and creamy sweetness, featuring a rich mascarpone mixture that melts in your mouth. Each bite is a perfect harmony of flavors, with a hint of cocoa that adds depth and elegance.

The texture is divine, with the soft, spongy ladyfingers soaking up the rich coffee, creating a moist base for the creamy topping. It’s a dessert that feels indulgent yet remains light enough to enjoy after any meal.

  • Total Time: 4 hr 30 min

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream: In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Add milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Mixture: In a large bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg mixture until well combined. Then fold in the whipped cream carefully to maintain its volume.
  3. Soak the Ladyfingers: In a shallow dish, combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.
  4. Layer the Tiramisu: In a 9×9 inch dish, lay half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over them. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  5. Chill: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve: Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For a twist, add chocolate shavings between layers.
